2 ways to style relaxed hair

by Kwanele Mathebula
relaxed hair

For many women, a ponytail is a go-to hairstyle for relaxed hair because it’s neat and simple. Grace Mantjiu shows you how to glam it up.

Relaxed hair is versatile. This gives you room to play around with different styles such as a trendy side parting or beautiful up-do ponytail. Try the side-parting for your office look and curls for a night out.

Day Look

Step 1

Wash your hair and blow-dry. Remember to use a heat protector to prevent damage.

Step 2

Part the hair on the side using a tail comb; the tail makes it easy to section your hair. Make sure the parting is slightly slanted to give your hair shape and volume.

Step 3

Take smaller sections of your hair and smooth them out using a hair straightener. Start from the roots, going up to the ends. Curl the hair inwards at the ends.

Night look

Step 1

Take smaller sections of your hair and create curls using a curling tong or wand. Repeat this until you finish the whole head.

Step 2

Section the hair on the nape of your neck up to halfway through your head and pin it up using pins to secure.

Step 3

Use a wide-tooth comb to soften your curls and give them more definition.

Tip: Use hair holding spray to make your curls last longer
