Gabrielle Union shares intimate details about her fertility struggles

by Kwanele Mathebula

Actress and entrepreneur Gabrielle Union has shared that she suffered “eight or nine miscarriages” in her quest to become a parent with her husband Dwyane Wade. The star shared the news in her upcoming book We’re Going to Need More Wine.

In an exclusive interview with People Magazine, Union revealed,”I never wanted kids. Then I became a stepmom, and there was no place I’d rather be than with them.”

The 44-year-old shares in her book “I have had eight or nine miscarriages,” she continues “In order to tell you the exact number, I would have to get my medical records. (I am also not sure what the number is where you start to think I must be nuts for trying.)”

“For three years, my body has been a prisoner of trying to get pregnant — either about to go into an IVF cycle, in the middle of an IVF cycle, or coming out of an IVF cycle. I have endured eight failed IVF cycles … For as long as I can remember now, Dwayne and I have lived in a  state of extended expectation.”

This is not the first time Gabrielle has spoken publicly about her fertility issues. In 2015, after celebrating a year of being married to Dwyane Wade, she hinted at struggling with fertility.

We can’t wait to read her book!
