5 ways Zweli Dube stays fit

by Bongiwe Tshiqi

Sowetan LIVE’s Mzansi’s Sexiest Man, Zweli Dube shares his exercise routine with us.

By: Fundiswa Nkwanyana

1. Keeping my body nourished is very important to me. I ensure that I have a healthy protein filled meal before an exercise session and I always take a protein shake to refuel my body afterwards. It’s also important to have an energy booster before and after exercising.

2. I work out five to six times a week in the mornings and evenings. Each workout session takes about two hours. With each exercise routine, I focus on a specific muscle group. So, for example, on a Monday I would focus on my chest, Tuesday on shoulders and Wednesday on my back, and so forth.

3. I’m happy that I have reached my body goals. I no longer follow a strict eating plan, but I do maintain my current body by eating healthy meals at least five to six times a day. I also make sure that I include fish, chicken and vegetables in my daily meals.

4. The secret to getting a six pack is doing crunches. I definitely think that doing a set of crunches for about 30 minutes has helped to carve out and maintain my abdominal muscles. Getting a six pack is easy, but keeping it requires discipline and consistent training.

5. Apart from being a fitness fanatic, I also have other exciting projects underway. Balance is key – life isn’t only about training. My character, Pule, on SABC’s soapie Muvhango has an interesting story line coming up that will fascinate the viewers. I will also be the face of a designer underwear range this year. I’m very excited about my future plans.
