Lehasa Moloi’s entrepreneurial venture – Lekholo Moving Pictures

by Fundiswa Nkwanyana

Actor Lehasa Moloi has over the years dominated our small screens for his roles in many television shows like Rhythm City, Isidingo, Muvhango and now etv’s Gold Diggers. He chats to us about broadening his horizons with his latest entrepreneurial venture, Lekholo Moving Pictures.

1. My acting career opened many doors for me. I started off as an actor and today I am a scriptwriter, producer, voice-over artist and the founder of my production company called Lekholo Moving Pictures. Tough lessons learnt along the way pushed me to carve my own path and be in charge of my destiny.

2. I started my company because I needed to generate income from various sources.  Actors have an unstable income, and as a family man, that made me uncomfortable. There were times where I juggled five jobs just to break even and I wanted to change that. I hope that my company will help me to tell our stories and break the barriers that hold back creative entrepreneurs.

3. Funding remains a challenge that I am still trying to overcome. Acquiring funding to run a company is costly while getting investors is tricky. I am pitching ideas and knocking on many doors to turn my passion into a profit. Despite the many challenges, things look promising.

 4. I am excited that my company will be working on an action comedy feature film this year. I can’t reveal much at this stage, but we are about to make the country laugh. After telling many sad stories, it’s time for some laughs with a funny action film.

 5. I have high hopes for 2017. With my company up and running, I am confident that it will be a success. As a fitness fanatic, I plan on venturing into a nutrition and fitness business. My modelling and music have taken the back seat, but I hope to bring them back into the forefront again. I’m excited about the future.
