Our Favourite Female Chef’s

To celebrate ladies month. Here are a few female chefs that should be recognized for the hard work they do in and around the world.

Siba Mtongana

Siba-Mtongana

Siba was born in East London in the Eastern Cape and studied Food Consumer Science at the University of Cape Town. She began her career as Food Editor at a magazine. Her comfort food is any seafood dish. She is also the first black South African to get her own show on the Food Network.

Thuli Mabunda

Thuli-Mabunda

Thuli worked her way up from waitressing to a wonderful career at Southern Sun Monte casino as a Pastry Sous Chef. As a result, she was approached to be a part of the Tsogo Sun learnership programme. She grabbed the opportunity and has never looked back. Her signature dish is a passion fruit mousse dessert with Lindt chocolate cake and orange sauce reduction.

Dora Sitole

Dora-sithole

Dora has done very well in the industry and has many achievements including publishing cook books, TV appearances and receiving awards. Having worked for a popular women’s magazine as Food Editor for two decades, She is a true SA food guru. She has also travelled widely in Africa and is the country’s foremost expert on African cuisine.

Ntwenhle Gcabashe

Ntwenhle-Gcabashe

Our very own, Ntwenhle, studied at Ml Sultan Technikon in Durban. After finishing her studies, she worked overseas for seven and a half years in order to experience different tastes and flavours. She is the current Food Editor for BONA Magazine and has also featured as a Spekko chef on Soweto TV’s Kasi Kitchen, Spekko radio talk on Ukhozi FM and on a Spekko Rice sponsored food show – All of which are family favourites on the community TV station 1 KZN.
