“Gogo wouldn’t miss the Migos trend”
The DA posted the video with a light-hearted caption: “Gogo wouldn’t miss the Migos trend,” while appealing to voters and reminding them not to miss signing up as a DA volunteer for Election Day.
People were undoubtedly unimpressed by the video.

South Africans tell DA to “read the room”
A few X users in the comment section pointed out various issues the country is facing and found the clip distasteful. One commenter pointed out the water crisis in Johannesburg, criticising their use of AI for the video.
@DAGauteng Joburg facing a water crisis by the way and here you are generating garbage, wasting water to try and attract…. an American audience??? https://t.co/2x6Z1eMFp3

Another pointed out how AI generation has been replacing real qualified South African artists.
@DAGauteng You don’t care about AI potentially replacing real qualified South African artists? As a party as big as yours, don’t you have some money to spare to hire real South African artists to make for you? Don’t you want better for your own people? Useless DA

@DAGauteng Hey @helenzille did you know the artist Takeoff the 1 3rd of the group Migos died tragically from gun violence? Like many kids in the Cape Flats who could not pursue their dreams? This is not the connection the youth was hoping for from you.

Ntsiki Mazwai comments on video
The conversation delved deeper into why many users found the video offensive and questioned the reasoning behind participating in the trend. Media personality Ntsiki Mazwai also shared her perspective.
“When your African leaders speak to White voters, they address them with dignity and respect. When your White leaders address you, they swim in potholes, put on boxing costumes and dance to hip hop music.”
Dear African child
When your African leaders speak to white voters, they address them with dignity and respect.
When your white leaders address you they swim in potholes, put on boxing costumes and dance to hip hop music…. Do you see how low they think of you? Do you see that they do not respect you as an intellectual group and talk down to you in skits and gimmicks?
