‘Government must be your sugar daddy’: Julius Malema to young girls

EFF leader Julius Malema has called for old-age social grants to be increased to R4,500 a month, saying the government can afford the increase by cutting wasteful expenditure and corruption.

Speaking at an EFF rally in KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday, Malema said more money should be directed towards pensioners who support struggling families.

“If we stop wasteful expenditure, we will get this money; if we stop prioritising the dead and feed our people, we will get this money,” he said.

Malema also called for the removal of deputy ministers, arguing that government could redirect the money spent on their salaries to social grants.

“We have to cut down deputy ministers… they are paid millions per year for doing nothing,” he said.

He also called for free school uniforms, books and three meals a day for pupils as part of free education.

“When you say free education, it is not a chalkboard and chalk; everything that goes with education, books must be free, uniform must be free, the children must eat at school and three times, not once,” Malema said.

He said providing meals and other support would reduce pressure on children to seek employment at an early age.

“I do not want young children and girls who go and sleep with Sibiya because they want money sugar daddies; the government must be your sugar daddy; no man must be your sugar daddy; we must support you and make sure that you become children,” he said.
