Emtee’s father speaks out after rapper’s release on bail

The family of South African rapper Mthembeni ‘Emtee’ Ndevu is breathing easier following his release on R2,000 bail.

As reported by The Citizen, Emtee spent 16 days at the Johannesburg Correctional Centre after being arrested for allegedly breaching a protection order obtained by his estranged wife, Nicole Chinsamy.

Chinsamy later told the Midrand Magistrate’s Court that she had decided to withdraw the case, saying she wanted to put the matter behind her and move forward.

Emtee exercised his right to remain silent during proceedings.

Bail comes with strict conditions

Although the case was withdrawn, Emtee’s release came with conditions. He must comply with the existing protection order and is prohibited from posting anything about Chinsamy on social media, either directly or indirectly.

He was also ordered to remove previous posts relating to her.

The court heard that Emtee’s incarceration had placed financial pressure on his family. According to an affidavit read in court by his legal representative, his parents and three minor children had been affected financially, with rental and school payments reportedly falling behind during his time in custody.

Emtee’s father says family can move forward

As reported by TimesLive, Emtee’s father, Lumikile Ndevu, expressed relief and optimism about what comes next.

He said the family could now begin addressing matters that had been put on hold while the rapper was behind bars. The focus, he indicated, would be on getting the household and other responsibilities back on track.

Ndevu also suggested that he believed the experience had been a wake-up call for his son.

For Emtee, whose career includes hits such as Roll Up, the release marks a chance to move forward while navigating the conditions attached to his bail.

The development has also drawn considerable attention from fans, with many following the rapper’s legal situation and its impact on his personal and professional life.
