The artist, real name Mthembeni Ndevu, appeared in court on Monday, 17 August 2026, over alleged WhatsApp messages that were reportedly in violation of a protection order Nicole obtained against him in 2023.
Emtee’s arrest
TshisaLIVE reports that the protection order was issued to the rapper specifically barring him from verbally abusing or targeting his ex through social media harassment. This is the second time this year he has been held in police custody over the matter. On 11 June 2026, the rapper spent a night at the Midrand police station but was later granted R1,000 bail and released.

Apologising to those who matter
Emtee released a public statement apologising to his children and people affected by the ongoing conflict between him and Chinsamy days before his bail was revoked, stating his sincere apology for “the pain, disappointment and emotional strain” the relationship had caused.
He offered deep reflection and accountability in his statement, noting that growth does not come without “honesty, accountability and the willingness to change.”
He rounds out the statement by wishing Nicole well, moving forward.
His new relationship
Love seems to prevail even in this turbulent season of the rapper’s life. The Pearl Thusi hitmaker and Nandi Ndathane, a former Idols SA contestant, shared on their Instagram stories their matching tattoos, seemingly confirming their relationship. Emtee had Nandi’s name tatted on his wrist, and the songstress had “hustle” permanently inked on hers, a nod to the rapper’s nickname.
Emtee shared a picture showcasing the matching tattoos on his Instagram Story with the caption, “Match made in heaven.”
