Refresh your home for spring: Simple seasonal updates

Spring is a season of renewal. As the days grow longer and temperatures begin to rise, it’s the perfect opportunity to refresh your living space and embrace a lighter, brighter home.

A seasonal reset isn’t just about spring cleaning; it’s about making thoughtful changes that improve comfort, organisation, and well-being.

Whether you’re planning a complete home makeover or simply updating a few areas, these easy ideas will help your home feel ready for the new season.

Declutter every room

Before adding anything new, start by removing what you no longer need.

Go through cupboards, drawers, wardrobes, and storage spaces, setting aside items to donate, recycle, or discard. Clearing unnecessary clutter creates a more open, peaceful environment and makes everyday cleaning much easier.

Aim to keep only the items you regularly use or truly enjoy.

Allow more natural light

Natural light can transform the atmosphere of your home. Open curtains during the day, clean windows thoroughly, and rearrange furniture if necessary to maximise sunlight. Mirrors placed opposite windows can also help reflect light, making rooms appear larger and brighter.

Bring nature indoors

A good way to do this is to add greenery to your space. Adding the right plants can enhance the spring feel of your house.

Add life to your home with:

  • Fresh flowers
  • Indoor plants
  • Flowering branches
  • Small herb pots for the kitchen

Plants not only add colour and texture but also create a calming atmosphere while improving the overall feel of your living space.

Refresh your colour palette

You don’t need to repaint the entire house to give your home a spring update.

Small changes can make a big difference, including:

  • Colourful cushions
  • Fresh table runners
  • Decorative vases
  • New artwork
  • Bright candles
  • Seasonal centrepieces

Choose colours inspired by nature, such as soft greens, blues, yellows, and blush pinks.

Give your home a deep clean

Nothing says spring like a quick deep clean. Winter often leaves behind dust, stale air, and hidden grime. To refresh your home, focus on tasks that may have been overlooked during your regular cleaning routine. From washing your windows and cleaning and wiping down ceiling fans and air vents to remove the winter mould.

When spring hits, you need to embrace the season of renewal and enjoy a home that feels lighter, fresher, and ready for the warmer months ahead.
