Cat Matlala subpoenaed to testify before Madlanga Commission

According to reports, his testimony may be subject to conditions, including an alleged agreement that he will not be questioned about the Medicare24 contract.

Sources claim Matlala initially sought exemption from appearing before the commission during plea discussions but later agreed to testify under those terms.

Commission spokesperson Jeremy Michaels confirmed that Matlala had been subpoenaed but declined to comment on the details.

“Yes indeed, the commission can confirm that Mr Vusimuzi Matlala has been subpoenaed to appear before the commission next Tuesday. We don’t want to say much more than that at this point; needless to say, Mr Matlala is a central figure in the commission’s inquiry and the arrangements around the preparation for his appearance are obviously extremely sensitive,” said Michaels.
