Match loss leaves Bafana legends stunned
The 90-minute, plus extra time, match saw Mexico’s Raúl Jiménez and Colombian-born Julián Quiñones lead the team to victory, despite César Montes receiving a red card. While South Africa didn’t match the two goals, they unfortunately managed to secure two red cards, one for Yaya Sithole and another for Themba Zwane.
The content platform Soccer Beat shared a clip of Benni, Aaron, and Quinton in the studio, not uttering a single word before and after being asked what had gone wrong in the game.

South Africans weigh in
Taking to the comment section, local social media users played the blame game, with many pointing fingers at Bafana Bafana’s head coach, Hugo Broos.
@MartinSero42097 shared their opinion, “If a coach lacks courage, let him go, get us a serial winning mentality coach. A big dreamer. Pitso/Benni are available as examples.”
“Hugo Broos should be fired after the World Cup. We are a laughing stock now.”
After watching the clip, @Matloha_SCM commented, “I mean, we are all speechless, we thought this was a golden generation.”
Who does Bafana Bafana challenge next?
On 18 June at 6pm, Bafana will go up against Czechia at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, United States. The team will return to Mexico, where they will take on South Korea on 25 June at 3am at the Estadio BBVA in Monterrey.
