The 2026 World Cup will make history as the first edition to feature three opening ceremonies across its host nations: Mexico, Canada, and the United States. Tyla has been included in the star-studded line-ups for both the Mexican and U.S. events.

The Water hitmaker is expected to perform at the opening celebration in Mexico City ahead of the tournament’s opening match. The event will highlight Latin American culture and feature a mix of global and regional artists. She will also appear at the U.S. opening ceremony at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, joining a lineup of global superstars in a high-energy entertainment showcase tied to the USA’s first match of the tournament.

Tyla’s inclusion across both ceremonies places her among the most visible African performers on the global stage during the World Cup launch period, reinforcing her rapid rise in international pop music. The FIFA World Cup opening events are expected to attract a massive worldwide audience, blending football, culture, and entertainment in a multi-country celebration of the sport.

The performances will kick off ahead of the tournament’s opening matches on 11–12 June 2026, setting the tone for what is expected to be the largest World Cup in history.
