Suspended Organised Crime Unit member Fannie Nkosi will remain in custody for at least another week, after his bail hearing was postponed to April 20.
Fannie appeared at the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Monday, following his arrest four days after he was suspended. During his appearance in court, it was established that the state prosecutor was unavailable leading to the postponement of the hearing.

Sergeant Nkosi stands accused of unlawful possession of explosives, three counts of failing to safeguard firearms, eight counts of failing to safeguard ammunition; defeating the administration of justice, failure to comply with firearm safety regulations, and theft. He is also accused of acting as a middleman between alleged crime boss Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala and senior police officers.
When the police raided his house in Pretoria, they found several firearms, including an R5 rifle and a revolver; over 100 rounds of ammunition; six case dockets; and over R50 000 in cash hidden under a mattress.

Fannie’s legal representative, Advocate Sizo Dlali, indicated that his client intends to plead not guilty to all charges. Sunday World reported that Fannie maintains the case against him is fabricated and lacks evidence.
“These charges are fabricated against me and cannot be proven,” Fannie said.
IOL reported that the investigating officer detailed how the raid uncovered several original dockets and copies, some dating back to 2016, that were never resolved. The publication added that the officer believes Fannie kept these dockets to obstruct justice, including cases related to car hijackings and common robbery.
This comes after Fannie earlier denied the charges, saying he earns R16,500 a month and can afford R10,000 bail.
