Limpopo Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba has been elected unopposed as the first female provincial chairperson of the African National Congress in Limpopo, replacing Stanley Mathabatha.

Her election took place at the Polokwane Cricket Club after the High Court of South Africa dismissed an urgent bid to halt the conference.
A unity slate saw all top leadership positions filled without contest, including John Mpe as deputy chairperson and Reuben Madadzhe as provincial secretary.

The unity agreement followed intervention from regional leaders to avoid internal divisions.

Ramathuba now faces the task of unifying the party and preparing it for the 2026 local government elections.
