A cherished tradition just before the International Cape Town Jazz Festival begins, the Cape Town free Jazz Fest concert at Greenmarket Square provided an open-air, high-energy preview of what to expect from the festival.

The Cape Town International Jazz Festival is set to begin today, the 26th of March until Sunday the 29th.

The free jazz fest concert offered local, national, and international performers a platform to connect directly with the community of Cape Town.

In the spirit of gratitude, the concert fully celebrated the Mother City by allowing the Cape Town community free access to world-class musical talents, from Zolani Mahola to Zoe Modiga, just to name a few.

Ensuring that those who may not attend the main event felt part of the festival’s magic, it embodied the festival’s commitment to making music accessible to all.

Undoubtedly, the Greenmarket City Centre was set ablaze last night, and this has set the stage for a major economic boost this weekend as thousands of music lovers will be descending on the Cape Town International Jazz Festival. This signals a strong return for the city’s events and tourism sectors.

For over 26 years, the Cape Town International Jazz Festival has been dedicated to showcasing a blend of South African talent alongside internationally acclaimed artists, and last night was no different.

The jazz fest has expanded its access and jazz knowledge across all demographics, and among young people.
