Actor Vuyolwethu Ngcukana returns to screens on a new SABC 2 Afrikaans drama series, Paradys. He will be playing the role of Nkateko Shivambu.
Vuyolwethu has previously embodied roles that had viewers talking on The Queen, 1802: Love Defies Time and My Brother’s Keeper, among many. The 43-year-old actor will join prominent actors such as Lorcia Cooper, Ilse Klink, Roderick Jaftha, Zane Meas and Obed Baloyi, to name a few.
Produced by Black Brain Pictures, the series is described as a multi-generational family story exploring legacy and unresolved dreams within a community promised a “Coloured paradise.”

Speaking about his character to Daily Sun, Vuyolwethu said: “I play the role of Nkateko Shibambu who is a reliable and trustworthy man, not forgetting that he is a good part of the society in Paradys. Shibambu also has a love interest in the community, where it gets a bit complicated. He is an overall amazing guy.”
The talented actor also shared that he cannot wait for the viewers to enjoy the storyline. “I’m looking forward to people enjoying the story and the layers and characters because we are reflecting what has not been shown in many stories and what has been missing. I hope they see it in a new light that entertains, informs and educates, which speaks to the ethos of the SABC as a broadcaster.”
