South Africa will host a special World Economic Forum Summit in April 2027. This presents a significant opportunity for African and global leaders to engage in pressing geopolitical and developmental issues.

Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Ronald Lamola, announced this decision during the South Africa Night event which was held alongside the WEF Annual Meeting in Davos.

Minister Lamola said, “The Summit would be a critical platform to address ongoing geopolitical and socio-economic issues affecting Africa and the global economy. The Summit will bring together global and African business leaders and public figures to engage on critical thematic priorities”.

With Africa growing and industries flocking to the continent, having this incredible forum hosted on the continent is a win. South Africa is uniquely positioned to convene global leaders to discuss and advance collective solutions to challenges, such as the rising geopolitical tensions, shifting trade dynamics and critical resource constraints. All these are factors in reshaping the global agenda about the African continent.

Lamola also urged the private sector, civil society and all partners of South Africa and the African continent at large to continue the support for change. Just like they supported the nation in the G20 summit, this forum presents an excellent opportunity to showcase the country’s vibrancy, warmth, and hospitality to the global business community.
