Kim Kardashian’s Brain Scan Sparks Debate: What “Low Activity” Really Means

by Zaghrah Anthony

Kim Kardashian’s Brain Scan Sparks Online Buzz

Kim Kardashian made headlines this week, not for fashion or reality TV, but for her brain. In a recent episode of Disney+’s The Kardashians, the reality star underwent a brain scan with celebrity neurologist Dr. Daniel Amen. The results? “Low activity” in her frontal lobe, which Dr. Amen noted had “holes” and appeared less active than expected.

As expected, social media erupted. Comments ranged from shocked disbelief to snarky jokes questioning how a woman running a billion-dollar empire could have a “lazy” brain. But here’s the crucial takeaway: low brain activity does not equal low intelligence.

Kim Kardashian learned that she has ‘low brain activity’ in her frontal lobe while getting a scan in the latest episode of ‘The Kardashians’:

“That just can’t be… Not accepting. I got to get on a plan to really figure this out because I have sh*t to do this summer.” pic.twitter.com/m7YZYixMxe

What Low Frontal Lobe Activity Really Shows

The frontal lobe , the brain’s “control centre”—manages decision-making, planning, emotional regulation, and stress response. When underactive, it can make life feel overwhelming, but it doesn’t measure IQ or ambition.

Brain scans showing “holes” are not literal gaps. They indicate regions of low activity, similar to a dimmer switch not fully turned on. Experts agree that this can result from chronic stress, mental fatigue, and life pressure—all of which Kardashian has candidly discussed.

Dr. Amen pointed out that her brain’s frontal lobes might struggle under intense pressure, especially as she prepares for the bar exam while managing multiple business ventures and motherhood.

Stress, Life Pressure, and the Brain

Kardashian, a mother of four, has previously shared health challenges, including a small, stable brain aneurysm and the emotional toll of her high-profile divorce. Chronic stress floods the brain with cortisol, which can reduce frontal lobe activity and make concentration, planning, and emotional regulation more difficult.

Common experiences of reduced frontal lobe function include:

  • Forgetting simple tasks

  • Feeling mentally “slow”

  • Struggling to plan or organise

  • Persistent fatigue despite rest

  • Emotional overwhelm or flatness

These are not signs of low intelligence. They’re signs of a brain under pressure.

How to Support Brain Health

Experts recommend lifestyle interventions to help maintain healthy frontal lobe activity:

  • Sleep hygiene: Consistent sleep strengthens cognitive processes.

  • Stress management: Mindfulness, therapy, and strong social support are key.

  • Exercise: Regular movement improves blood flow and oxygenation to the brain.

  • Mental breaks: Short rests can restore neural efficiency.

  • Balanced nutrition: Omega-3s, leafy greens, and antioxidants promote brain health.

Even high-functioning individuals, like Kardashian, can benefit from these strategies, especially when balancing work, family, and public life.

The social media frenzy around Kim Kardashian’s brain scan highlights a common misunderstanding: brain imaging shows function, not intelligence. What looks like “low activity” may simply reflect fatigue, stress, or overwork.

In other words, being human sometimes means your brain needs a break. And if anyone has proven that you can manage multiple empires, parenthood, and public scrutiny while still thriving, it’s Kim Kardashian.
