Actress Gcina Mkhize, who is fighting an ongoing battle of eviction from her house in Glenvista, Johannesburg, pleads with Mzansi to help her find a lawyer who will represent her pro bono.

Gcina’s house was sold on auction by the bank, after she failed to pay months of her bond installments. In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter), the former Isibaya actress said the bank sold the house illegally on October 3, 2023. She said she has been harassed by a man who claimed to have bought the house since February 2024.

Speaking to Sunday World, Gcina said she and her former husband purchased the property in Glenvista, south of Johannesburg, in 2015 and lived there with her two daughters and two sons. She said when she divorced in 2018, the decree of divorce stipulated that they must both contribute equally towards the bond repayment of the house as it was a shelter for their children.

“My ex-husband moved on with his life and left me with my four kids. I was a single parent, and all the bills were on me, and I had one source of income,” said Gcina.

In the video clip shared by MDN news, Gcina said the man broke the walls again. She said the the brother of the man had her son arrested, because he tried to stop him from breaking all the windows, as he said he would.

Gcina shared that the man and her brother also tempered with their electricity. She said she has opened countless cases against the man, but that did not help. However, the man went to the Booysen Magistrates Court to apply for Gcina’s eviction. She said the magistrate has put her under pressure to bring her lawyer, but she has not found one that will represent her pro bono, because she does not have an income.
