From Belgian Treats to Ballet Nights: What to Do in Cape Town This Weekend (14–16 November 2025)

by nikita.m

Cape Town is in full swing this weekend, blending festive cheer with cultural flair — from waffles and Belgian beer in Newlands to ballet under the stars in Rondebosch. Whether you’re craving live music, community spirit, or creative markets, the Mother City has something for everyone.

A Taste of Belgium: Food, Beer, and Festive Cheer

If your love language is waffles, beer, and good vibes, make your way to A Taste of Belgium. This annual festival brings Europe’s heart to Cape Town with indulgent food, live music, and family fun.

Expect everything from rich chocolates and gourmet fries to traditional stews and fresh mussels. Of course, it wouldn’t be Belgian without a stellar beer lineup — plus local wines and spirits made by Belgian producers.

Families can enjoy jumping castles, face painting, and sand art, while The Incidentals set the mood with live acoustic folk-rock. It’s one of the most relaxed and flavourful days out in the city.

Where: Belgian Embassy Residence, Newlands
When: 15 November | 10am – 5pm
Cost: Free entry

Cape Ballet Africa Presents Giselle

Cape Ballet Africa reimagines the timeless love story of Giselle — a peasant girl whose broken heart transcends life and death. This breathtaking performance, choreographed by Maina Gielgud, is elevated by set and costume designs from Michael Mitchell and music by the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra.

The production has earned glowing local praise for its modern grace and emotional depth. If you love theatre that lingers long after the curtain falls, this one’s for you.

Where: Baxter Theatre Centre, Rondebosch
When: 13 – 22 November | 7:30pm | Sat matinee 3pm
Cost: R200 – R495 (Webtickets)

Wild Fig Wine Festival & Market

Take it easy under the trees at the Wild Fig Wine Festival — where great food, live music, and over 40 wines come together. Matt Roux provides the soundtrack while guests browse the mini market for cheese, art, and bric-a-brac treasures.

Locals call it “the Mowbray escape,” thanks to its country-style atmosphere just minutes from the city.

Where: Liesbeek Avenue, Valkenberg Estate, Mowbray
When: 15 November | 10am – 4pm
Cost: R180 (wine tasting)

Trash Bash Turns a Year Older

Join the Two Oceans Aquarium team for the November Trash Bash beach cleanup at Lagoon Beach in Milnerton. It’s more than just picking up litter — it’s about teaching kids (and adults) the value of protecting our oceans.

This month’s edition also marks Trash Bash’s birthday, so there’ll be extra festive energy in the air.

Where: Lagoon Beach, Milnerton
When: 15 November | 9am – 11am
Cost: Free

Table Mountain Take a Hike Day

For nature lovers, Take a Hike Day is your call to action. Hike one of three trails, collect litter as you go, and enjoy a free cable car ride down afterward.

Locals say it’s one of the best ways to reconnect with the mountain — and the community that loves it.

Where: Table Mountain
When: 15 November | 6am – 5pm
Cost: Free (registration required)

Jordan Baker Live: An Intimate Evening of Soul

Soulful, smooth, and proudly local — Jordan Baker’s show promises an intimate evening of neo-soul and jazz. Expect rich vocals, raw emotion, and a room full of good energy.

Where: Openwine, Wale Street
When: 14 November | 7pm
Cost: R85 – R100 (Quicket)

Gardens Community Market

Celebrate community spirit at the Gardens Community Market. Enjoy live music, local food, and handcrafted treasures while supporting small vendors.

Bonus: dogs are welcome, and you can bring your old padel or tennis balls to be turned into unique furniture by Amazeballs.

Where: Gardens Lawn Tennis Club, CBD
When: 15 November | 9am – 3pm
Cost: Free (book via Quicket)

Drumstruck at Silvermist

Celebrate Africa’s heartbeat through music and rhythm at Drumstruck. Each guest gets a djembe drum, making the audience part of the show. Add wine tasting or a braai at Silvermist Wine Farm, and you’ve got a truly South African experience.

Where: Silvermist Organic Wine Estate, Constantia Nek
When: Weekends (Saturday & Sunday)
Cost: From R280 (locals’ rate)

Cape Gift Market

If you’re getting a head start on festive shopping, the Cape Gift Market is your go-to. With over 200 vendors and 7 000 handmade items, you’ll find everything from local décor to gourmet goodies — all while supporting children’s charities and small animal rescues.

Where: Sea Point Civic Centre, Three Anchor Bay
When: 14 – 30 November | 9am – 7pm (weekdays), 9am – 5pm (weekends)
