Sello Maake ka Ncube’s estranged wife reflects on their marriage

by Zintle Mdaka

Media personality and businesswoman Pearl Mbewe has recently looked back on her marriage with veteran actor, Sello Maake ka Ncube.

The former couple tied the knot in 2021, and their marriage quickly became a topic of public fascination. While they were being scrutinised by the public, cracks began to show behind the glitz and red-carpet smiles, leading to their separation and eventually a protection order being served.

Pearl recently took to her Instagram page to reflect on their marriage. “12months ago I would have written a silly and stupid caption,” she penned. She also touched on how public speculation affected her life and her career.

“Maar (but) what a ride it has been, media speculation, my career went up and down.

“But do you know what, after a while you realise that you don’t hate the person but you hated the situation. I would look at my pictures and realise that my soul was gone but I looked good! The lesson to myself, live your truth, you are possibly an impossible woman to handle. You come from poverty, you were the first of it all in your family! Don’t light your light so bright that it deems your parters light. Jury is still out on this one,” she wrote.

“Two days ago was my marriage anniversary, the 5th one and 4yrs together in marriage. Years later involves protection orders, don’t speak ill of each other. There is no reason to do such when you have gravitated towards yourself.

“I can now walk in the streets without having to look the part, not that I ever tried, I think, I always just did me. Maar (but) anyways, today marks the 1st of November and my birthday is in nine days, last year I was served with a protection order on the eve of my birthday, life will humble you,” reflected Pearl.
