Suspended Police Minister Senzo Mchunu has denied any connection to murder-accused businessman Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala during his third day of testimony before Parliament’s ad hoc committee on Tuesday.

Senzo insisted he had never met, spoken to, or received any benefit — financial or otherwise — from Cat, saying he only learned of him last December during discussions with Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola about a police training college tender.

“I have never met Matlala. I’ve never seen him with my naked eye. I’ve never had a talk directly or indirectly with him,” he said.

Questioned by EFF leader Julius Malema, Senzo confirmed he had asked Cat — while in prison — to sign an affidavit denying any relationship between them, explaining that he wanted to correct false media reports suggesting Cat funded his lifestyle.

“What is it that I’ve ever received from Matlala? Or what word has ever gone between me and Matlala? But they say he funds my lifestyle,” he said.

Senzo urged the committee or the Madlanga Commission to call Cat to testify and clear his name.
