The Springboks have officially gone back-to-back and came out victorious in the 2025 Rugby Championship!
The 2025 Rugby Championship could go down in history as one of the toughest tournaments to date. Unlike previous years, where the competition is often dominated by two of the sport’s biggest heavyweights, South Africa and New Zealand, this year saw the re-emergence of a team like Australia, which in recent years struggled to compete at an international level.
Furthermore, the South American team of Argentina also proved that they are no longer the punching bags they used to be, after recording convincing victories over both New Zealand and Australia, leaving each team with equal victories and defeats at round four of the competition.
This past weekend, they once again proved their resilience by overcoming a 29 – 13 deficit to finish the game 27 – 29, with the victory belonging to the Springboks, who for the first time in decades won the tournament back-to-back.

Speaking at the press conference, captain Siya Kolisi applauded his teammates for their determination. The Springbok leader reflected on how the team faced a dark patch during Allistair Coetzee’s reign as coach and said that it drew them closer.
“I wore this jersey when nobody wanted to watch us play and when it was hard to get a win,” Siya explained.
“Now, no matter how tough it is in the game, we know how to win, we know how to fight, we know how to dig deep.”
“The way Rassie came in from the beginning, it was the mentality – he just changed how we thought and how he told us to put ourselves aside and realise that the Springboks are a big team and we need to get back to where we need to be.”
Following the game, both coaching staff and players took to social media to share some of their highlights and celebrations.

The Springboks will now enjoy some time away from the field before they gather again for the end-of-year tour in Europe.
