Renowned actor, singer and cultural activist Mbuso Khoza recently called out veteran producer Duma Ndlovu for failing to pay him for the music he composed for Umkhokha: The Curse.

Mbuso took to his Facebook page to let Mzansi know what the court said regarding his dispute with his former TV boss. “They said from the songs that I composed for Umkhokha: The Curse, 59 percent is owned by Mr Duma Ndlovu. His lawyer said I should stop making contact with Ndlovu, but Ndlovu is the one who asked me to join his telenovela and compose music for the show.

“My question is, how many people have been silenced by the law when an old man like me has been stripped of his livelihood? My conscious wont allow me, because I worked hard,” he penned.

In another post on his Facebook page, Mbuso pleaded with Duma and said: “Please take my call regarding the money you owe me on Umkhokha from 2021 until the last season. Please take my call, I composed many songs for the show. Please awube wumuntu (please be a human being).”

Mbuso composed music for the Mzansi Magic faith-based telenovela, in which he also acted as prophet Maphalala. Umkhokha: The Curse has since been canned by Mzansi Magic after two seasons.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE then about the claims that date back to 2021, Mbuso said: “It is my account. Here I’m fighting for my rights and someone has messed up, this is the truth. I don’t care and I’m fighting for the future of my children here. No-one will tell me otherwise. As long as I see my money in my account, that’s all.”
