Businessman Hangwani Maumela, who is reportedly the nephew of Cyril Ramaphosa, has become the latest hot-shot to face the wrath of the law. He was recently nabbed for his alleged role in a R326 million fraud scheme linked to Tembisa Hospital.
It is no secret that South Africa’s political state is best described as fickle, with one wrong move from the government or citizens posing a threat of catastrophic damage.
In an effort to deal with South Africa’s political decay, citizens zoned in on finding the source of the corruption that has turned South Africa into an unrecognisable banana state, particularly after General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi’s explosive media briefing which implicated several top officials.
Since then, we have seen some significant progress in a number of cases that had essentially gone cold, including the mysterious and gruesome murder of DJ Sumbody in 2022. Furthermore, significant strides have been made in cracking down kingpins such as Vusimuzi ‘Cat’ Matlala and Brown Mogotsi, who are believed to have significant involvement in the syndicate alleged by Mkhwanazi.
Businessman Hangwani Maumela has become the next hot-shot to enter the hot seat after an investigation into large-scale corruption in procurement contracts between 2019 and 2022 led to his recent arrest. It appears Babita Deokaran did not die in vain, as the truth she allegedly paid with her life to be revealed, is slowly coming to light.

The story of Hangwani has been intriguing, as his relation to President Cyril Ramaphosa has raised some eyebrows. However, some have noted that one of the most interesting things about the tenderpreneur is the fact that no one seems to be able to find a full, clear picture of him across the entire internet, further adding to the public’s suspicion and wariness.
It’s very difficult to find pictures of Hangwani Maumela. I would be very interested to watch him do an interview with Sakina Kamwendo. pic.twitter.com/n4R9rThdsc

Hangwani Morgan Maumela
So there is no one who have his picture? He is the new khulubuse of this time and still we dont even know him? Why there is no appetite by media houses that seek to expose who really he is?
