Acclaimed South African music producer Collen Ntala Mmotla, who is popularly known as DJ Chymamusique, has made it out of ICU.

Chymamusique was involved in a tragic car accident that claimed the life of DJ Poizen and four more, and injured two people. The DJ made a name for himself with hits like Lost In Words, We Are to Be and Celebrate & Praise.

Recently, his Instagram page shared a heartwarming update that said: “Chymamusique is out of ICU as of now – four successful operations, one outstanding. Still hospitalised until further notice. Thank you for your prayers and support during the toughest times.”

He also paid tribute to his late friend and fellow DJ and producer Poizen, whose real name was Caven Masetla.

The accident occurred on August 30, on the N1 near Ysterberg Mountain, outside Polokwane.

According to Departmental spokesperson Tidimalo Chuene, two sedans collided head-on before catching fire. Tidimalo added that four of the deceased were burnt beyond recognition.

“Preliminary reports suggest one of the vehicles may have attempted to overtake when the crash occurred. Although the investigation is ongoing, reckless driving has not been ruled out as a contributing factor.”

Instagram users weighed in.

One user said: “Get well soon brother.”

Another user said: “Speedy recovery boss. Your job is not done yet.”

While another one said: “Glad you’re out of ICU, just a shame you couldn’t be out with DJ Poizen.”
