Two-time Emmy Award winner Trevor Noah is set to kickstart his journey as a producer in the film industry with his latest movie, The Island.
According to the prominent American news website, Deadline, the film tells the story about “two polar opposites — a successful alpha businesswoman and a hopelessly dedicated male high school teacher, who are the sole survivors of a plane crash on a deserted island and must rely on each other to stay alive.”
It is further alleged that the film drew inspiration from the harsh realities people faced during the Covid lockdown.
While Trevor has previously had cameo appearances in films like Coming to America 2 and Leon Schuster’s Mad Buddies, this latest project will be the first time that fans will see him in the role of a producer.
Working alongside him is Andrew Jay Cohen, who partnered with the former host of The Daily Show earlier this year to adapt the script after it had previously been at Paramount for some time.
Andrew is renowned for co-writing Neighbour, as well as Fox’s comedy Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, both of which star Zac Efron.

As for Trevor, the latest venture will see him expand his already impressive resume as he ventures into newfound opportunities.
Aside from his work as the former host of The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, he also prides himself on his first love of being a stand-up comedian, as well as hosting the prestigious Grammy Awards five times. He is also the proud author of his autobiography Born a Crime, which captures the details of his life growing up in apartheid South Africa.
These days, he can be seen conversing with friends and celebrity guests on his podcast called What Now?
It is yet to be confirmed when fans will have the opportunity to watch the film in cinemas.
