“Please be careful, my people” – these are the words of South African actress Leleti Khumalo, who recently cautioned her fans to be wary of online scammers using her name and face to promote medical drugs.

The Sarafina actress recently took to her Instagram page, issuing a statement in which she condemned scammers using her images as a way of endorsing medical products used to alleviate joint pain.

“Leleti Khumalo is in no way, shape, or form associated with any medical endorsements, brand deals, or campaigns of this nature. Any such claims are fraudulent and unauthorised,” the statement read.

It further stated that the use of her image to advertise the products was done illegally and that this was misleading to the public, and urged her followers not to engage with any promotions of this sort unless it was advertised on her own personal social media platforms.

“We are taking this matter very seriously and are working with the relevant authorities to address it. Protecting the public from scams and safeguarding Leleti Khumalo’s name and reputation is our top priority,” the statement continued.

The actress further encouraged users to contact her on any of the social media platforms should they encounter any other advertisements of this nature.

“I love you guys. Please stay alert and safe,” she concluded.

Earlier this year, the veteran actress travelled across the world to Monaco, where she, alongside producer Anant Singh, received a Golden Nymph Award at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival for their film Don’t Give Up.

She later took to Instagram, expressing just how much the award meant to her.
