India’s largest automotive company, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles (TMPV), is set to make a return to the South African consumer market.

The company, renowned for manufacturing India’s safest vehicle coupled with advanced technology, cutting-edge design, and meticulous innovation, is set to unveil a series of brand-new vehicles at its launch in Sandton, Johannesburg.

News of its return was announced this week, with the Tata Motors Ltd. group confirming Motus Holdings Ltd, a group responsible for the sales of vehicles like Kia, Renault, and Hyundai, as their official partnering distributor in South Africa.

Motoring publication Cars.co.za previously reported that while some of the brand’s bigger vehicles like bakkies and trucks have continually been spotted on local roads, the last time that Tata passenger vehicles were sourced was in 2019.

The new range of vehicles comes in the form of SUVs, crossovers, and entry-level compact hatchbacks.

TMPV has expressed excitement about its return and is committed to refining the driving experience for its consumers.

“South Africa is an important market in our global expansion journey. With our class-leading products and a reputed partner in Motus, we are here to offer our South African customers a choice of vehicles that are safe, stylish, and innovation-driven,” said Yash Khandelwal, Head International Business, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd.

He continued, “We will deliver a distinctive and future-ready mobility experience, backed by attractive pricing, competitive financing, and industry-leading aftersales support.

Thato Magasa, CEO of Motus Holding’s TMPV South Africa distribution business, says that they are just as excited.

“From advanced safety features and robust build quality to future-focused mobility solutions, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles’ upcoming range is aligned to the needs and realities of the market. Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles’ introduction to South Africa is not just about vehicles, it’s about providing a comprehensive mobility solution, backed by a globally respected conglomerate and a proudly South African partner dedicated to serving customers with excellence,” Thato added.

The group aims to place a big focus of empowering locals while growing the economy by supporting employment across sales, service, parts distribution, and technician training.
