Actress Jada McGowan is pleading with Mzansi to respect her craft after she received backlash from internet users about her acting skills.

This comes after a video clip of Jada, who plays Mellissa on the longest running soapie- Generations The Legacy, was widely shared on social media.

In the video, Jada, who starred alongside veteran actress Thinah Mnumzana, appears to be shocked after seeing that her R17 000 camera has suddenly disappeared after she put it on a shelf. Some netizens felt like her acting skills were underwhelming, leading to them mocking her online.

Recently, the 22-year-old thespian had an interview with Daily Sun, where she shared that she graduated from AFDA, and she is not going anywhere.

“I went to film school. I studied live performance. So, people must get off my case. I respect my craft. The people on Generations have even told me, ‘We can see you love this. You’re getting better,” she said.

She shared that she sees the negative and positive comments, and sometimes when she engaged the negative comments; she would be overwhelmed by emotions and cry.

“I opened and even responded to some of the comments, as I want people to know I engage. I ended up crying while replying to comments. But I’m not going to sit back and do nothing. The hate encourages me to do better.”

Jada admitted that her acting is not perfect and still needs to be polished.

“I love acting, and I know I am not perfect. But what I know is I’m definitely going to improve, and I am going to be successful in this industry.”
