Bring your moves: trending dance challenges on TikTok

Each day, there is seemingly a new dance challenge that comes up on social media platforms – especially TikTok.

For internet users to easily grasp a dance challenge and be able to take part in it, the steps have to be simple, catchy, fun and trendy.

Songs such as Jerusalema and Tshwala Bam became popular and most streamed songs because of their trendy dance challenges that had almost everyone jumping onto the bandwagon.

Dance challenges evolve everyday, and can sometimes involve popular dance moves compiled to form the trendy step. Furthermore, the Amapiano genre with its irresistible beats and log drum has become the backdrop of many dance challenges.

Here are some of the dance challenges that have kept the internet captivated and eager to learn the dance moves.

First up is the ‘Magumba’ challenge. This dance challenge was formed using a song titled Magumba by Khadeair featuring Kaytah & Peekay Mzee. The surprising fact about the song is that it was released about two years ago, and it has recently gained traction with the dance challenge. It is currently seating at over 14 thousand views on YouTube.

Another challenge that has TikTok users up on their feet is MaLacoste dance. It is derived from DJ Maphorisa’s song featuring Mark Khoza, Ricky Lenyora, Vulela Maweekend and Mluusician, titled MaLacoste. The song was released months ago, and is currently on 65 thousand views on YouTube.

Yivale is another dance challenge that had many polishing their dance moves. It is derived from the Gqom genre.

Partii by Kamo Mphela, Que DJ and Aymos featuring Jay Music and Space Pose captivated many with the fun dance moves. The song is on 2.2 million views on YouTube.

Last but not least, Zenzele by Uncle Waffles and Royal Musiq featuring Cowboii, Xduppy and Uncool MC also had Mzansi challenging themselves to dance. The song is on 6.4 million views on YouTube.
