WATCH | Inside the oath: Manamela steps in after SETA storm

by Staff Bona

Buti Manamela has been officially sworn in as South Africa’s new Minister of Higher Education.

Manamela is a South African politician serving as the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology. He previously held roles as Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology and Deputy Minister in the Presidency.

Manamela has been a member of the African National Congress (ANC) National Executive Committee and the South African Communist Party (SACP) Central Committee.

The ceremony took place in Cape Town on Tuesday, a day after President Cyril Ramaphosa appointed him to the post.

Manamela replaces Nobuhle Nkabane, who was dismissed over the controversial — and now abandoned — SETA board selection process.
