Build One South Africa (BOSA) leader, Mmusi Maimane, has recently kickstarted a new chapter –  he now carries the title “Doctor”.

Known for his undying passion, eloquence, principled leadership, and progressive vision, Mmusi Maimane is often regarded as one of the most charismatic personalities in South African politics.

His go-getting attitude and commitment to seeking social justice have not only seen him leading the Democratic Alliance at one stage, but have also seen him establish his own party, BOSA, through which he currently serves as a Member of Parliament (MP).

Recently, the proud father of three took his list of personal accolades a notch further when he obtained a PhD in Public Management and Governance from the University of Johannesburg on Monday.

His study was focused on creating a model that addresses the reform of metropolitan governance and promotes effective and efficient municipalities.

The study looked at coalitions and local governance challenges between 2014 and 2019 in Cape Town, Gqeberha, Tshwane and Joburg.

In a conversation with news publication, Daily Sun, BOSA spokesperson Roger Solomons highlighted that the timing of Maimane’s graduation is perfect as the country’s democracy currently struggles with what it means to lead with integrity and authenthicity.

Joining Maimane was Melusi Gigaba, who was awarded his doctorate from the College of Business & Economics.
