Actor Lemogang Tsipa has reportedly announced that he will hang up his acting gloves to follow his passion for music.

Lemogang currently plays the iconic character of King Shaka Zulu on Mzansi Magic’s Shaka iLembe. He is also known for his appearances on Amandla, Beyond The River, Blood Psalms and Isithembiso, among others.

The thespian told Daily Sun that he will quit acting as soon as he wraps up Shaka iLembe, he will focus on his music journey fully. He revealed that he will be focusing on a new genre that he created with his friends. Although he chose not to reveal too much, he told the publication that he’s music will speak deeply to South African identity and musical heritage.

“As soon as this show (Shaka iLembe) is done, I’m going to start releasing my music. We’ve been cooking something really fresh, a brand-new genre that I created with a couple of friends,” he said.

Lemogang revealed that he has recorded songs with actor and singer Mbuso Khoza, soulful singer Moneoa, and other artists whom he chose not to identify at the moment.

He shared with the publication that he started playing musical instruments from the early age of 11 years, and has always wanted to be a musician. Lemogang also said while he became an actor, the time was ripe for him to pursue a career as a musician.

Lemogang has showcased his brilliance in the acting scene with his current character, where he breathes life and embodies the character of King Shaka.

“I think I’ve done a lot in the acting space. And Shaka iLembe is such a massive production. It’s a tough one to follow. So, I’m giving myself the chance to grow musically,” said Lemogang.

Here is a snippet of his musical talent.
