A young woman from Johannesburg, Aarin Strydom, has shared a shocking story of how she was targeted by Boko Haram from 2019 to 2023.
Aarin’s ordeal began when she was lured into a world of danger by a man named Romeo Boy, an Indian drug dealer who later became her partner. Unbeknownst to Aarin, Romeo Boy was involved in a human trafficking syndicate.
Prior to meeting Romeo Boy, Aarin had a close call outside a popular nightclub, Toy Toy, where she was followed to the bathroom by a group of men, including a white man and foreign nationals. Fortunately, she managed to escape.
Aarin’s relationship with Romeo Boy started after she broke up with her boyfriend. However, things took a turn for the worse when she ended things with Romeo Boy and got back together with her ex-boyfriend. In a shocking turn of events, Aarin’s ex-boyfriend was stabbed during a break-in at her luxurious estate.
The attack seemed to be orchestrated by the Boko Haram syndicate, which Aarin later discovered was operating within her estate. The syndicate members had been living in the estate, targeting single mothers and women who lived alone. Aarin’s investigation revealed that the syndicate members had been avoiding the electronic security system, which could have exposed their identities.
In a chilling revelation, Aarin learned that the Boko Haram crew had threatened security personnel with AK-47 guns when they were asked to follow procedure. Realising the danger she was in, Aarin waited for her boyfriend to recover and moved out of the estate, seeking refuge with her partner’s parents.
