Following the continuous flooding as a result of heavy rain, Grammy Award-winning DJ, Black Coffee, and numerous partners have provided residence in Mthatha with much-needed assistance to get to ensure they are warm and well fed.

Earlier this month, it was reported that hundreds were left homeless after heavy rain caused flooding and damage to property, leaving more than 600 people, including children, displaced, while others tragically lost their lives.

These families were later scattered across multiple shelters, some of which included Mandela Hall, Northcrest Hall, Decolyne Hall, Efata School, and Isinolwazi School.

Taking to Instagram, the renowned muso through the recently established urged the public as well as local businesses to get involved in providing residents with relief by donating some essential needs such as blankets, warm clothing, non-perishable foods, baby formula, toiletries, and sanitary pads.

With the help of several partners, which included Feed the Nation, the Hollywoodbets Foundation, Nando’s, Sompire, BidAir Cargo, and NGL Logistics Group, they have since managed to raise more than R500,000 to provide the much-needed assistance.

“The Eastern Cape holds a deep significance not only for the foundation, but for the many people who call it home. We are grateful to our partners and to every person who donated towards the cause. Giving back isn’t only something we do, it’s who we are,” said CEO of the Black Coffee Foundation, Black Coffee’s sister, Lungie Maphumulo, during an interview with TshisaLive.

But while the emergency operation of providing instant relief is nearly complete, they will now shift their focus to restoring what was lost and are urging others to join in the mission.
