Following a series of successful performances in celebration of his 20th year in music, Chris Brown has once again found himself in court.

Last month, the rapper was arrested in Manchester, England for an alleged assault incident which took place in 2023. It was alleged that the Don’t Judge Me hitmaker assaulted a local music producer at a night club, leaving him with serious injuries.

After arriving in England ahead of his Breezy Bowl concert, local police officials quickly approached him at 5-star Lowry Hotel after the producer, Abe Diaw opened a civil case against the Grammy Award winner, for injury damages as well as a loss of income after he was hospitalised.

Following the controversial arrest, the singer was granted bail after he agreed to pay the court R120 million on condition that he fulfil his commitment to continue the international world tour and return to England to complete court proceedings. Failure to do so would result in him forfeiting his bail money.

After successful shows in the Netherlands and Denmark, the father of three returned to England for two sold out shows in Manchester, before fulfilling his bail conditions and returning to court.

Reuters reported that on Friday the singer plead not guilty to the assault charges during his appearance at London’s Southwark Crown Court.

According to the above mentioned publication, his co-defendant Omololu Akinlolu, also pleaded not guilty to the charge of attempting to inflict grievous bodily harm.

The two were later granted bail until their next court appearance on 11 July.
