The US filmmaker Tyler Perry released another banger, STRAW, which had Mzansi grasping for air upon watching it.

STRAW is a thought-provoking film recently released on Netflix, where it’s currently topping the charts. The film boasts a talented cast that includes Taraji P Henson, Sherri Shepherd, Sinbad and Teyana Taylor among others.

The film that left many crying their eyeballs out is set against the backdrop of a single mother who navigates a series of unfortunate events, leading her down an unforeseen path where she becomes embroiled in a situation she never envisioned. And subsequently finds herself at the centre of suspicion in an indifferent world.

The last time Tyler turned the internet into a frenzy was with the release of Acrimony, where the heated debate on who was wrong erupted among the netizens.

STRAW led to a debate on the chronicles of being a single mom, and awareness of mental health.

X (formerly Twitter) users weighed in:

The part I love and I really love what the woman said…..”People don’t know how expensive it is to be poor

#Straw This movie is not only about financial struggle. Mental health is so real & important. Love one another and be there. Even if it’s just to listen to someone vent. Mental health is important and so are you

Taraji p. Henson acted her heart out and truly carried the film 🙌🏾 pic.twitter.com/lxHTNJ145c
