“It won’t happen”- Julius Malema on EFF and MK joining forces

After an inquiry from a curious social media user, Economic Freedom Fighter (EFF) leader Julius Malema has squashed any hopes of a coalition between his red beret’s and Jacob Zuma’s Mkhonto Wesizwe (MKP).

Spearheaded by some of mzansi’s most notable leaders and politicians, the MKP and EFF are left-leaning parties who share various similarities, such as advocating for economic redistribution as well as anti-establishment policies in South Africa. However, they also have some key differences, such as the EFF adopting a more defined Marxist-Leninist framework, while the MKP’s framework is often tied to its leader, Jacob Zuma’s influence.

Since the MKP’s establishment in 2023, there have been many comparisons between the two parties, with some initiating conversations of an eventual coalition between the two parties, despite them taking up space in opposing ways in South Africa’s political space.

After revealing that the African National Congress (ANC) and Democratic Alliance (DA) have closed ranks, X (formerly Twitter) user @ZizinjaAbelungu, who is a proud EFF member revealed that he believes that as left-leaning parties, the time has come for MPK and the EFF to join forces to bring about the necessary change in South Africa.

It appears that the EFF’s Commander in Chief (CIC) is not interested in uniting with his former leader’s organisation, as he responded matter-of-factly with “It won’t happen”. He did not go on to elaborate on why he is so sure that the coalition will not be happening.

It won’t happen

The CIC’s stance has his supporters split, as some agree with him, and believe that a coalition would not be a smart move for the EFF, while others believe that it is an inevitable fate, whether Julius likes it or not.

It must never happen.

That will be the end of revolutionary mission.
