Cool, calm, collected, or a fumbled job by President Ramaphosa during Trump meeting?

The highly anticipated meeting between President Cyril Matamela Ramaphosa and U.S President Donald Trump has come and gone, and after tuning in attentively, citizens can’t seem to agree on how they believe things went.

As part of his recent working trip to the United States, Cyril met up with Donald, in hopes of discussing bilateral relations between their respective nations. Matamela embarked on the long journey to the land of the free, and the brave looking to set things right with President Donald, both about the alleged white genocide taking place in South Africa, as well as to restore what was once an amicable relationship.

The meeting, which was held in the White Houses’ Oval Office, was nothing short of chaotic and saw viewers experience a rollercoaster of emotions and reactions. The meeting got off to a confrontational start when Donald handed President Cyril a large pile of ‘proof’ of a white genocide occurring in South Africa, and played videos of EFF leader Julius Malema singing the infamous ‘Kill the Boer’ chant.

After sitting through the entirety of the lengthy meeting, South Africans cannot seem to come to a consensus regarding the president’s performance. One one side, citizens have applauded President Cyril for his cool, calm and collected demeanour, despite facing an unpredictable and provocative Trump, who has been described as a . According to these users, Cyril handled himself in the best possible way, with the utmost patience, and managed to get his message across without upsetting Donald off.

Crazy thing is that Cyril STRATEGICALLY took those white men (yes, one is the minister of Agriculture)with him because he knew that Trump seeing them would diffuse the situation… And that’s mad business. I never thought I’d see “I have white friends” play out like this ?

My President in the oval office today❤️
Cyril Ramaphosa is standing on business and showing off his education and knowledge, I’m so proud.

Love him or hate him but Cyril Ramaphosa sounds sharper and well articulate than Trump. Trump really thought he was going to walk through him by using fake news in the Oval Office but he’s calmer and clearer than this orange man. ?

However, the opposing side has revealed that they believe that the meeting was nothing short of an embarrassment on Cyril’s part, as he allowed the U.S president to walk all over him. Furthermore, these users believe that Cyril failed to straightforwardly dispel the disinformation regarding the alleged white genocide, but opted to rather speak vaguely on the matter.

Weak, spineless, overwhelmed, struggling! I’ve seen enough, this entire trip was a geopolitical mistake. Make no mistake about it, President Cyril Ramaphosa and South Africa were humiliated today #SAinUSA pic.twitter.com/W1aAIQktYy

I was annoyed by Ramaphosa saying he didn’t know those crosses were in SA.
That unfortunately exposed a lack of preparation. He needed to push back with statistics and facts — he was not just speaking to Trump but to the world.

So Cyril just went there to embarrass us by allowing that idiot of a man to talk over him.
