After capturing mzansi’s attention with the tragic story of their seven-year-old daughter’s rape ordeal, which they believe took place at Bergview College, Cwecwe’s parents Thandekile and Mlungiseleli Mtshinzana met with Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema, who vowed to do all he can to ensure that justice is served.
After numerous attempts to get justice for their seven-year-old-daughter who they believe was raped on school premises, Cwecwe’s parents took to social media, as a last resort to ensure that the perpetrator faces the rightful consequences. It is then that the country at large rallied behind the family to demand that the government and justice system take necessary action against the guilty individual, as they highlighted the prevalent rates of Gender Based Violence (GBV) that the country continues to boast.
Despite garnering immense attention, with citizens going to the extent of organising a nationwide protest, it appeared that, similarly to numerous other victims, Cwecwe would not be getting any justice, as her case began to fall into the cracks of the system.
Recently, the aggrieved parents met with the EFF leader, where he and his red berets have expressed their unwavering support and solidarity for Cwecwe’s parents. Furthermore, Julius has pledged that the EFF will stop at nothing to ensure that the young child is handed her due justice, and will ensure that every individual responsible is held accountable for their disgusting actions.
“The EFF will not rest until every individual responsible for this barbaric and inhumane act is held accountable. We will ensure that the state institutions which neglected their duty to protect this child are exposed and confronted for their complicity through silence and inaction,” the party declares via their X (formerly Twitter) page.

This meeting has restored hope within the public, after some citizens had accepted that Cwecwe’s case had become yet another statistic in the number of unsolved rape cases. This is due to Julius and the EFF garnering a strong reputation when it comes to advocating for the voiceless.
Salute to the EFF and CIC @Julius_S_Malema
We commend the EFF and CIC Malema for standing with Cwecwe’s family during this painful time. Their visit shows true leadership not just in words, but in action. The EFF is boldly confronting a system that failed an innocent child pic.twitter.com/yAiLcHwUGY

This is excellent in terms of social justice, this is what is called taking responsibility for the National Democratic Revolution. #JusticeForCwecwe
