The BMX trio from Limpopo has lived up to the famous words of Dr Nelson Mandela,”It always seem impossible until it is done.” When they made their dream of cycling from Burgersfort to Cape Town come true.

The celebrated trio that includes 24-year-old Max Ndou, 23-year-old Gauta Mahlakoane and 22-year-old Karabo Mokowo embarked on the daunting journey to highlight the issues of gangsterism, drug abuse, and to spark conversations about community related issues and raise awareness on the importance of raising a boy child.

Recently, the trio received a warm welcome from the City of Cape Town and one of their sponsors, Red Bull throughout their trip. Western Cape MEC of Cultural Affairs and Sports, Ricardo Mackenzie joined the boys on his bicycle for their last stretch, and managed a lot of the programme’s proceedings when they arrived at the City Hall.

Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis was also present at the City Hall when the Limpopo cyclists received a heroes welcome, and had this to say.

“We’ve been following you, we’ve been following the money you have raised, and the reason you have been raising it. In the course of this journey, you have captured the nation’s hearts, and you’ve captured Cape Town’s hearts. We want to welcome you with all of our hearts,” Geordin said.

Newzroom Afrika took to their X (formerly Twitter) to share a glimpse of the warm welcome from Cape Town to the boys.
