Wiseman Mncube does right by Ash-ley Ogle

Actor Wiseman Mncube has taken a significant step towards making amends with former Big Brother Mzansi contestant Ashley Ogle, following a racially insensitive comment he made about her on social media.

The controversy started when he made a racially insensitive comment about Ash-ley Ogle and her relationship with Sweet Guluva. He joked that fans should vote for Sweet Guluva to win the R2 million prize so he could “run away” from Ogle, referencing her race and background. This comment sparked outrage on social media, with many calling for accountability and accusing him of racism.

He promptly issued a public apology, acknowledging that his words were thoughtless and inappropriate. While some fans accepted his apology, others remained skeptical about his sincerity.

In an effort to demonstrate his commitment to making things right, he donated $55 (approximately R1,039.64) to Ogle’s GoFundMe page. The fundraiser, which aims to support Ogle’s post-show ambitions, has raised over $43,103 (roughly R812,485.55) from 309 donors as of April 3.

Taking to X (previously Twitter), he shared proof of his donation, captioning it, “New relationships have a funny way of starting, but we all end with a happy ending. As per our agreement, I have donated”.

However, reactions to his actions remain mixed, with some commending his effort to take responsibility, while others question his sincerity. The controversy continues to be a topic of public debate, highlighting the importance of accountability and sensitivity in public discourse.
