‘Big Brother Mzansi’ winner Sweet Guluva warns fans about scam

‘Big Brother Mzansi’ season 5 winner Sweet Guluva, real name Akhonamathemba Mbele, has taken to X (formerly Twitter) to warn fans about a scam carried out in his name.

In a post, he alerted followers that individuals had been falsely using his name to solicit donations: **“Bolokhuzan’ it has come to our attention that some individuals have been falsely using my name to solicit donations, misleading fans and supporters.

“To clarify, asiwaceli amaDonations, but we do understand that many of you have expressed a genuine desire to contribute out of your own will.

“To ensure that anyone who chooses to support me is doing so safely and directly, we are providing the official banking details below. 

“This is purely for those who wish to give, and there is absolutely no obligation to do so. Uyang’bamba kanjani?

“We appreciate the love and support, and we want to protect our community from any scams. Should you choose to contribute, please use the details below to ensure your support reaches us directly.

“Thank you for your continued support, uSweet Guluva is’gebengu esingayibambi inkunzi sin’thanda kakhulu.”

 

While some appreciated the transparency, others questioned why Sweet Guluva was asking for donations, considering he won R2 million from the reality show. 

User @amos_chikwari commented: “Bro you won 2mil… tf you want donations for. We giving you 24 hours to take down this post!!!” 

 

@lowkeyevery weighed in: “This is the greed that was talked about in the Bible.”

@SelloJupiter added: “Guluva trying hard to milk people their last cents”

However, not everyone shared this view. Some fans, including those from outside South Africa, were eager to support him.

@TheGyal_ said: “Please also consider international donors. The whole of Africa loves you and wants to donate.”

@TwoKhosi asked: “How do us international fans make contributions?”

@Boity_Nia simply thanked him for sharing the banking details: “Thank you for the account details.”

 Meanwhile, music mogul and businesswoman DJ Zinhle hinted at a potential collaboration with the 23-year-old student.

In a TikTok video, she revealed that she had reached out to Bongiwe Zwane, Sweet Guluva’s mother, to discuss ways she could support his career.
