Bafana Bafana take charge of World Cup destiny

Bafana Bafana’s win over Benin has primed them to qualify for the WC for the first time since 2010, writes DYLAN JOHNSON.

Writing for Soccermag, Johnson explains how South Africa took a significant step toward qualification with a composed victory in Ivory Coast, strengthening their hold at the top of Group C.

Even with the looming possibility of a points deduction for fielding the ineligible Teboho Mokoena, Bafana remain in pole position to secure their place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Lyle Foster ended his goal drought, while Jayden Adams continued his impressive form, highlighting South Africa’s attacking depth. Meanwhile, rivals Nigeria failed to capitalize, drawing 1-1 against Zimbabwe.

With crucial fixtures against Lesotho and Nigeria in September, Bafana are in control of their destiny. Their commanding performances have set them apart in Group C, making a long-awaited World Cup return feel inevitable.
