Multi-award-winning actor, Wiseman Mncube has recently rectified his mistake by issuing a public apology to former Big Brother Mzansi housemate, Ash-Ley Ogle for his insensitive remarks.

The former Ehostela actor made a comment about Ash-Ley being a coloured from Wentworth leading to him presuming that she is dangerous, and said that the winner of Big Brother Mzansi Sweet Guluva should break up with her while he still had time.

This comment did not sit well with Ash-Ley’s supporters and some of the internet users, prompting them to say they will stop watching any production that works with Wiseman and threatened to boycott Shaka iLembe.

This racism against Ashley is jarring and heartbreaking
Is it a crime that she’s coloured ? Can you please free Ashley ??#bbmzansi pic.twitter.com/PLmF2I3Ebm

Shortly after the uproar ensued, Wiseman issued a public statement on X (formerly Twitter) where he expressed his sincere apologies, and said he was joking and did not realise that this comment would be perceived as completely inappropriate.

“I take full responsibility for my actions and the harm they may have caused. I now realise the weight of my words and the harm they may have, and I am committed to being more mindful in the future, I will take this as a learning moment and do better moving forward,” read the statement.

The apology was met with different opinions, with some wondering why he was apologising, while others said Ash-Ley is also not a saint.

X users weighed in:

Good ?

But Ashley is not saint either she called black women ugly , she mocked KB and called her ” rape girl ” , she insulted Mshini’s parents , she also shamed Mshini for having a child , her fans they are bullying every housemates

Apologising to someone who has said worse things about women who are raped and those who have given birth is diabolical?

To think I was eager to watch him in ShakaIlembe season 2 but not anymore. Each time i see him, it will remind me of his racial comments. We are different colors but one people at the end of the day.. SAY NO YO RACISM!!
