by Silindokuhle Booi

Yanga Chief is definitely the guy he thinks he is, a million streams in less than 30days? That is mind blowing.

South African rapper Yanga Chief (born Yanga Ntshakaza) has been making waves in the hip-hop scene.

He is a 37-year-old independent artist who is passionate about creating music that resonates with listeners.

Recently, he released a long anticipated album, Lord Faku- The Life Of A Dyan, which have been making it to the top of the charts in the hip hop scene.

His song What If? (Mngani), in particular has been the one most people relate to and love. The song is a thought-provoking track that explores themes of friendship, trust, and betrayal.

The song’s emotional weight is amplified by its mellow production, featuring soft piano chords and rich harmonies. His storytelling is heartfelt, making What If? (Mngani), a relatable and impactful listen.

Interestingly, Yanga Chief didn’t pre-select a lead single for his album, Lord Faku – The Life Of A Dyan; instead, he let his fans decide, and What If? (Mngani) emerged as the standout track.

The song’s success has been phenomenal, with it reaching the No. 1 spot on the SA Spotify daily chart and making Yanga Chief the first SA hip-hop artist in four years to achieve this milestone.

Taking to Instagram, he shared a screenshot of the song. In his caption he appreciated God’s blessings.

“When God does it He will make it seem like it was overnight.”
