Ishmael Songo shuts down death hoax

Former ‘Rhythm City’ actor Ishmael Songo took to TikTok to assure fans that he is alive, following false rumours of his death circulating on social media.
The actor addressed the claims directly: “Apparently, I’m deceased. Well, according to social media. So, the first time around, they said that I was a drug addict. They pic-mixed my picture with a picture of one of the roles I played, obviously being a drug addict, considering the fact that I’m a storyteller.
“Shortly after that, they then went on social media and said that I’ve lost my house and I’m living on the streets. How they even knew I had a house, I don’t know. Third time around, which is currently they’re saying that I’ve died (sic).”
He slammed the false claims, adding, “I mean if their attention is coming my way, be it negative or positive, but for me, it’s absolutely sickening. It’s ludicrous that you take your time so much to paint a picture.”
Ishmael is one of several celebrities who have had to address death hoaxes. Earlier this week, eNCA journalist Shahan Ramkissoon also had to set the record straight.
“I just wanted to say I am alive and well, alive with possibility, going nowhere through the grace of God. The reason I am saying this is because some foolish person, quite twisted at that, posted a video saying that I had passed.”
He warned: “Don’t believe everything you see on social media.”
