Black Coffee turns 49! Here is how the celebrations went

One of mzansi’s most renowned DJs has officially gotten one step closer to the half-century milestone!

Known for constantly innovating his craft and coming up with some of the most creative sounds that often surprise the modern generation of musicians, it is not hard to fathom how experience goes a long way in any industry, and as they say, some people mature like fine wine.

This is exactly the case for South Africa’s very own Nkosinathi Innocent Maphumulo, better known by his stage name, Black Coffee.

The multi-award-winning DJ recently celebrated his 49th Birthday this past week. While there may be one more year until the official big 5 0, the musician made sure to make this one just as memorable as any other – after all, birthdays only come once a year.

Taking to Instagram, he shared pictures of some of the festivities, which involved close family and friends around the dining table at a restaurant in Johannesburg.

In the caption, the Drive hitmaker took the opportunity to express his appreciation to all those who took the time to wish him on his special day.

“Thank you for all the birthday wishes, kind messages, and all the love. I have nothing but gratitude.”

The last few years have not been smooth ones for the DJ. Last year, he was involved in a car crash that resulted in him sustaining serious injuries. During his time on the sideline, he has managed to substitute his busy lifestyle with seeking a relationship with God.

Last year, a video emerged showing him attending a local church service, through which he also responded to an altar call and sought prayer.

Meanwhile, he is now fully recovered and has been captivating large crowds once again.
